An incredibly gifted junior footballer, Curtly took the U/16 National Carnival by storm as a 14 year old, leaving many AFL recruiters in awe of his ability and maturity. Unfortunately for those recruiters they never got the chance to select Curtly as the new AFL Franchise, GWS Giants had first dibs on him under the NT Zone Selection draft concessions they received in their start up phase.
Curtly was a very mature young man having moved from home at an early age to board at Immanuel College in South Australia. He displayed these skills during his two years with the AIS/AFL Academy. Unfortunately during Curtly’s time with the AIS during the ages of 17 and 18 years, he suffered a few injuries which restricted the amount of games and training sessions he completed. However with the help of the right advice, he overcame these injuries and has enjoyed a fine start to his AFL career.
After enjoying four seasons at GWS, Curtly was traded to the Adelaide Football Club in 2015 in a quest for more senior opportunities in the familiar surroundings of South Australia. Unfortunately Curtly's first season in Crows colours was severely hampered by injury, however after overcoming this setback he managed to play some consistent footy in the SANFL in the last part of the season.
Curtly started his 2017 season in terrific form playing through the midfield for the Crows. Making an immediate impact with his run and ball use, Curtly was back to his best. Unfortunately a foot injury cut him in down in Round 9 prematurely ending his season, before making a late push for the Crows Grand Final team,
