Daniel is the backbone of the Adelaide Crows defence. Having a deeply competitive nature, Daniel rarely gets beaten one on one as he plays on some of the games best modern day forwards on a regular basis.

Highly touted as a junior, Daniel played in defence, midfield, and up forward during his time at the Calder Cannons in the TAC Cup. Many experts thought that Melbourne would have selected him in the draft with pick 11, however Daniel managed to fall past Melbourne and Carlton and into the hands of Adelaide who knew they had found a long term player.

Due to injury, Daniel’s output in 2010 was restricted, however since that period he has not looked back collecting the NAB Rising Star Award in 2012, he was selected at Full Back in the AFLPA’s "22 under 22" which acknowledges the best 22 players who are 22 years of age and below, in both 2012 and 2013. In 2014 he won the Adelaide Best & Fairest Award and was selected in the All Australian team.

Signing with the Adelaide Crows until the end of the 2021 Season, Daniel enjoyed a fine 2016 season when he he was once again named in the All Australian team at Centre Half Back. However it was in 2017, whereby Daniel showed just how critical he was to the teams success as the Crows were Premiership favourites and the in-form team for most of the season before falling short to Richmond in the Grand Final.

Unfortunately the teams performance since the 2017 Grand Final appearance hasn’t been to the level that they would like, due to a combination of injuries and a change of personnel. However Daniel has continued to shine and be a pillar of resilience as the team navigates there way through a tricky period.
