Fletcher was unfortunately overlooked in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft, however showing great maturity and perspective, he pressed on with his own personal training in order to keep fit in the off chance a AFL Club selected him a few weeks later in the Pre Season Draft. Fortunately a few weeks later, the Western Bulldogs called his name out and he was quickly into his first AFL Pre Season at the Whitten Oval.

A versatile tall, Fletch was recruited as a forward however he quickly found himself training as a key back as the club required more depth in defence. Fletch's versatility saw him play forward, back, and ruck in the first few years, before eventually settling in a key back position.

After a strong 2015 season, featuring in 12 games including the Elimination Final against Adelaide, Fletcher enjoyed his best season to date in 2016 where he played in 18 games. Saving his best form for the finals, Fletcher had a terrific Preliminary Final against GWS forward, Jeremy Cameron, before playing a crucial role in the drought breaking Premiership win against Lance Franklin and Kurt Tippet.

After a couple of tough years in 2017 and 2018, Fletcher is looking forward to holding down a key defensive role for the Bulldogs in 2019.

Away from football Fletcher is studying Psychology at Deakin University.
