Jade Rawlings
Date of Birth: 09/10/1977
Club (as player): Hawthorn/Western Bulldogs/North Melbourn
Club (as coach): Melbourne
Games (Goals): 148 (97)
Recruited From: 1994 AFL Draft, from Devonport (Tasmania)
Jade was recruited late in the 1994 Draft by the Hawthorn Football Club, where he developed into a very good key position player.
Jade played 148 games across three AFL clubs, however it has been his coaching ability that has seen him remain in the AFL since retiring in 2006 due to injury.
Having taken up a position of Senior Coach of the Coburg Tigers in 2007 who were Richmond’s VFL affiliate at the time, Jade enjoyed his time as coach before he was handed the caretaker role of Richmond’s senior team part of the way through 2009 when Terry Wallace was sacked.
Jade enjoyed a few wins during his time leading the AFL team, however he unfortunately wasn’t successful in getting the role on a permanent basis at the end of the season. The Brisbane Lions saw this as a great opportunity to attract Jade to their club under Senior Coach, Michael Voss where he assumed the Assistant Coaching role in 2010 and 2011.
Jade returned to Victoria at the end of the 2011 season and immediately earned an Assistant Coaching role at Melbourne FC where he remains today.
