Recruited From: 2017 NAB Rookie Draft, from Sandringham Dragons (TAC Cup)

A late comer to AFL, Joel grew up playing Basketball and Soccer before starting to play football in his late teens.

An athletic tall, Joel has tremendous power and agility who showed continual improvement throughout the 2017 season where he split his time between playing for Mentone Grammar and Sandringham Dragons. At the middle stage of the season you could really see Joel's confidence grow as he began to fly for his marks and really take the game on. Fortunately he took this confidence into the last few rounds of the season for Sandringham Dragons when he arguably played his best Football for the season in the TAC Cup Finals, including the Grand Final.

Joel has continued to develop during his times at the Swans and has shown promising signs o an exciting future ahead. At times he has been hampered by injuries which has ultimately prevented him from making his AFL debut earlier, however Joel got this opportunity late in the 2020 season where he showed he is more than capable at playing at the level. Looking forward to another big preseason, Joel is setting his sights on a big 2021 season.
