Jonathon Ceglar
Date of Birth: 14/02/1991
Club: Hawthorn FC
Games (Goals): 89 (41)
Recruited From: 2010 NAB AFL Draft, Pick 25 from Murray Bushrangers (TAC Cup)
Recruited from the Murray Bushrangers as a 19 year old, Jonathon spent two seasons at Collingwood, before he traded to Hawthorn’s Rookie List in 2013. At Hawthorn under the tutelage of Senior Coach, Alastair Clarkson and Ruck Coach, Damien Monkhurst, he has taken his game to a new level sharing the ruck duties with fellow big men, David Hale and Ben McEvoy.
Jonathon had a terrific 2014 season where he played consistently in each of his senior appearances, which included the majority of the finals series. Unfortunately he was replaced in the Grand Final team as the Hawks blew the Swans away to win the Premiership. However Jonathon took the disappointment of not playing in his stride and was happy to share in the clubs success and what he had achieved during the year.
In 2016, Jonathan achieved his most consistent season as he took the Hawks number one Ruck position. He also managed to sneak forward at times to kick 14 goals in his 19 games for the year, before rupturing his ACL against the West Coast Eagles. Unfortunately Jonathan required a full 12 month recovery resulting in him missing the 2017 Season. After completing a full pre-season, Jonathon’s start to the season was delayed due to ongoing back spasms, however after playing a few games for Box Hill he came back into the team in Round 10 and played the remainder of the season including the Qualifying Final.
Signing a new three year contract at the conclusion of the 2019 season, he is looking forward to the re-generation of the Hawthorn list and the success it will bring.
Jonathon is also a qualified Electrician after completing the majority of his apprenticeship before being drafted.
