Kurt Aylett
Date of Birth: 02/04/1992
Club: Essendon FC
Games (Goals): 3 (0)
Recruited From: 2010 NAB AFL Draft, Zone Selection from North Ballarat Rebels (TAC Cup)
Taken as a zone selection by the GWS Giants a year before they entered the AFL Competition, Kurt relocated from Ballarat where he was a boarder and Sports Captain at Clarendon College to Sydney to spend a year honing his skills in the NEAFL Competition in preparation for the following year.
Playing mainly as a half back, Kurt experienced the high’s and low’s of AFL football in a very short period of time. Firstly it was rupturing his ACL in a NEAFL game in 2011 which ruled him out of the remainder of the season and the start of the 2012 season, before making his AFL debut against the Fremantle Dockers in Round 22, 2012. The professionalism and maturity Kurt showed to overcome such a unfortunate injury was commended by his team mates and coaching staff.
Traded to Essendon with fellow GWS player, Shaun Edwards at the end of the 2013 season, Kurt quickly established himself in his new surroundings and cemented his midfield spot in the VFL team before making his debut for the senior side in Round 8 of the 2014 season.
Kurt has finished his certificate in Personal Training and will look to combine some PT work with his footy in the future.
