Ruby Schleicher
Club: Collingwood
Playing Honours:
The youngest of Collingwood's picks in the 2016 AFLW Draft, Ruby was selected from East Fremantle FC as one of the most promising up and coming Ruck's of the competition.
Making the move from Perth with relative ease, Ruby is another footballer who was previously pursuing a career in the US College Basketball system before focusing on her football. Representing East Fremantle in 2016, Ruby was starting Ruck which included a berth in the Grand Final.
Showing incredible development throughout her first year of AFLW, Ruby decided to stay in Melbourne during the winter and play in the VWFL for St Kilda Sharks to further establish her playing credentials. The hard work paid off at times in the 2018 AFLW season, however a few injuries including a serious concussion limited her output at times. Fortunately Ruby made a full recovery and had her best season to date in 2019. With a number of changes at Collingwood, Ruby was looking forward to taking her career to the next stage in 2020. After a huge preseason Ruby had an injury interrupted year which limited her contribution. However returning to WA in the winter, Ruby has put together a strong off season and is looking forward to 2021.
